About Us

Troop 381 meets at Camp Comal (softball complex) in New Braunfels,Texas. We are one of the very few troops in the area that actually has its own scout hut.

We have a strong troop committee composed of many giving adults led by Troop Committee Chair Pete LaBonte. The success of these young men are the top priority of a strong core of dedicated Assistant Scoutmaster's led by Scoutmaster Heather Eaton.

A scout is only as successful as his parents want him to be. We have found that strong parental support leads to successful young men. Please drop us a line using the contact us section on the menu or drop by for a visit.

Normally, we met every Monday night from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM.  We meet at  Camp Comal Park which is located at 1901 Kuehler Ave, New Braunfels, TX 78130. Drive thru the parking lot and it will curve to the right. We are in the old green building aka Scout Hut on the left. However, during the blazing summer months we meet at the river and work on our water skills.

Summer Camps we have attended:

2008- Camp Pioneer, Arkansas. We spent the week in the piney woods. The best Order of the Arrow tap out ceremonies we have ever seen. Overall, we had a good time.

2009-Buffalo Trails Scout Reservation (BTSR) near Fort Davis, Texas. Good camp with a good program but it was a little warm. Ok, it was HOT !

2010-Camp Sid Richardson near Lake Bridgeport, Texas. The Troop went in two directions at this camp. One group did high adventure by using pontoon boats to hit different areas of the lake which was pretty neat. The second group of younger scouts stayed at base camp. I think they mentioned that is was hot :).

2011-Camp Lost Pines, Bastrop, Texas. Good camp lots of activities and a great scuba program. They have made a lot of improvements. Still hot :)

2012-Camp Alexander, Colorado. We had enough of being hot at every camp. So, we raised the funds chartered a bus and let the adventure begin in Colorado !! The scouts were able to see some beautiful country (8200 feet) and it was very pleasant ( Not HOT !).

2013-Camp Wehinahpay, New Mexico. We made it there and it was not HOT :))). This camp (8500 feet) was pretty darn good. This is one that we may go back to.  Kids had a great time and the charter bus is the way to go.

2014-Camp Chris Dobbins, Colorado. Once again the troop is made the trek to Colorado. With dedicated adult leaders and parents plus some fantastic scouts we were abl\e to once again raise some funds to charter a bus for this journey. The Troop 381 theme here lately is go to camp and not melt !! Camp Chris Dobbins sits somewhere around 7000 feet with sweeping views of Pikes Peak.

2015-Camp Spanish Peaks Scout Ranch, Colorado. Why not ?!?! beat the Texas heat. Back to beautiful Colorado we go and enjoy life for a week at 8500 feet. Troop 381 is sticking with the theme of not melting at summer camp. Let's raise some funds for our charter bus and head to mountains for a great week-long adventure !! The funds were raised and the trip was fantastic.............

2015 - Philmont Scout Ranch, New Mexico. We had 2 scouts and 2 adults hit the trail for a 12 day , 100 mile trek.........talk about adventure !

2016-Camp Ben Delatour Scout Ranch, Colorado. You know we may have almost figured out that Colorado is a pretty good place to be during the boiling Texas summers :)))). Therefore, we are going back to beautiful Colorado just to make sure. Come join Troop 381 for yet another adventure. This camp is located about 45 miles Northwest of Fort Collins near the village of Red Feather Lakes @ around 8000 feet.

2017-Camp Wehinahpay, New Mexico. Back to this great camp ! This camp sits at 8500 feet. We made a lot of memories this summer.... Visiting White Sands and Carslbad Caverns along the way.  This was a trip the scouts won't ever forget.

2018 - Camp Alexander, Colorado.  This camp seems to be an all time favorite for our scouts!  When given the opportunity to return, the older scouts always pick Camp Alexander for another round.

2019 - Camp Chris Dobbins, Colorado.  Still running away from our Texas heat while enjoying the cool alpine air in Colorado!   Chris Dobbins didn't disappoint. With a fun trip to Garden of the Gods and the Air Force Academy, Camp Chris Dobbins was a great summer trip.

2020 - This year the pandemic took away our opportunity to travel to Hale Scout Reservation, Oklahoma.  The scouts were not able to earn any merit badges, search for bigfoot, nor make any memories!

2021 - Camp Alexander, Colorado.  After this past year of quarantine, the Scouts requested returning to a familiar favorite.  We look forward to an amazing summer of making new memories in the mountains and foot hills we love!
